Back in 2019, we (Derryn and Kellie Lockwood), with our young family, took the first step towards establishing an electrical company in the Devonport area. At that time, Derryn was already planning to step away from a job where he was working 6-7 days a week, while Kellie was also doing a full time admin job. We had a dream of creating a successful business that allowed for a better lifestyle – for us, our future employees, and customers.
All we had was a contractor’s license in hand, a strong vision to create a workplace where team members feel valued and appreciated, and a drive to make high-quality electrical services accessible for both homeowners and businesses. This was the starting point of DKL Electrical and Heating. From then on, there was no looking back.
We remember our elation when we took our first apprentice onboard, and our excitement only increased with every new addition to our electrical maintenance company.
As the building boom continued in Tasmania, we got ample opportunities to grow and acquire a wealth of experience in electrical construction work. Kellie also managed to take on a full time role in DKL Electrical and Heating, and our company grew to a total of 9 team members, all experts in their respective fields.
With various other electrical installation and maintenance companies servicing around the same area, it was hard work and determination that enabled us to build our identity as a reputable electrical service provider in North West Tasmania.
While we started off as a small family business in Devonport, we now offer our services in all nearby towns and suburbs, including Spreyton, Shearwater, Hawley, Portsorell, Latrobe, Ulverstone, Burnie, Turners Beach, Sheffield, Railton, and Forth.
